Who We Are
Svayam is India’s leading accessibility organisation, dedicated to reshaping societal perspectives about individuals with reduced mobility. It was established in 2000 and operates as an initiative of the Sminu Jindal Charitable Trust. Svayam is a non-profit trailblazer in the field of accessibility, committed to forging a world without barriers for all. Started as an online portal providing information on policies, laws, healthcare, etc., the organisation expanded its focus to promote Accessibility For All, later becoming the leader in the space with its groundbreaking work.
What We Do
Svayam has made significant contributions worldwide for over two decades with its work. From the Qutab Minar – the Taj Mahal, India’s international airports, the Supreme Court of India, and so much more, Svayam has notably made India’s infrastructure and transportation accessible.
Our Story
Initially, Svayam started as an online portal providing information about health, governance, and policies. Later, the organisation became a national centre promoting accessibility and began to conduct access audits of built environments to help stakeholders achieve accessibility.
Recognition and Awards
Svayam’s efforts have been recognised nationally and internationally. The organisation has received two National Tourism Awards of Excellence. It has been shortlisted multiple times for the Times of India Social Impact Awards. It also received the GAATES Award of Recognition for its leadership in accessible transportation.
